Definitely 17.4 kHz, barely perceiving 18 kHz, age 51 with a sinus infection.
Of course, I'm listening through Altec Model 6's....
Came across this site that has a frequency test pulses, to test what Frequency you can hear up to.

I've done this before, and found that I could hear some of the higher tones, but not a few in the middle....... makes me wonder if I'm actually hearing some sort of secondary harmonic that my little computer speakers in my monitor are making.

I can hear the 18, better than the 17.4 or 16...... 15 is where I really start hearing more. I think 10 years in a automotive factory hurt my hearing even though, I always wore ear plugs.

Well folks, through my little Gateway speakers made by you know who, at full volume from three feet, 15khz. That's it.
I thought I could hear some of the higher tones, but that was just my ringing in the ears, 'cause I kept hearing it after the tone stopped. 62 years next month, many years of live music, loud hifi, and 15 months of 24 hr artillery & helecopters in 'Nam has taken its toll. Guess I didn't need to add those tweeters after all.
Test isn't accurate unless thru calibrated headphones...if the speaker is 6 dB down and you are -4, that's 10 total...not to mention the effect of background noise...
All this assumes even the test is accurate, so just have fun with it, don't take it too seriously...
Your neighbors called. They like your music.
Dang!!! I'm down to 12khz at age 49....no wonder I think my speakers are messed up!!! Thanks AB.I went to another site and got up to 13khz..... Eeesh I'm missing more of my music than I'm enjoying. : /

Through my altec lansing laptop speakers I can hear up to,barely 17 khz but with ear buds 17.4 khz. I have to be honest, I have to strain to hear it, but can faintly, so I would probably be more realistic around 16-17 Khz
Though we think we do![]()
All True ! But as the title says thought would be Fun !![]()
You're not missing much. Maybe the top end shhhhh of cymbals, not much else. Too much emphasis is put on how HIGH we can hear, and not enough on how WELL. It's good to know, but there isn't all that much musical content above 8Khz. When I was young and could hear up that high I always hated tweeters - they sounded fake to me. Now that I'm old and deaf as post, I kinda like tweeters.![]()
